Riding the Blue Ridge Parkway

Blue Ridge Parkway - Parkway North, heading home.

I returned to the Parkway via my reverse route from Deal's Gap, Rt. 28 then Rt. 19. The rest of Friday was spent largely just riding and snapping pictures. The bike turned over 3000 miles, the weather was wonderful and the day was just fantastic.

I really prefer the forested, rolling mountains found here in the East to the pictures I've seen of the Rockies out West. I've often said that if I ever win the lottery or become independently wealthy by whatever means, I'm buying a mountain and living on it.

This trip really had me thinking along those lines.

Riding a motorcycle through those mountains allows you to feel a little more connected to the nature around you than you might otherwise in a car or an RV. I highly recommend that you do it. These pictures probably don't properly capture the grandeur and splendor of the mountains... and that's good. If they did, then why would you need to go there? This is definitely something everyone should experience at least once.

I don't use phrases like "humble before God", but Nature? Oh yes... standing on the cliffs looking around you, you are most definitely humbled before Nature.
